Lindsey Goodman has been described as a “legitimate virtuoso” who performs with “agility and emotion” (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) and “impressive artistry” (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review). Ms. Goodman holds the Martha Gaines Werhle chair as the principal flutist of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra and also frequently performs with orchestras in Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Lindsey is the solo flutist of the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, a group with whom she has recorded two CDs, made two international tours, and been featured eight times as a soloist. Ms. Goodman also performs regularly as a soloist, chamber musician, and masterclass clinician around the country.
Ms. Goodman maintains an active teaching studio of flutists grades six through twelve in Pickerington, Ohio. Her students’ accomplishments include winning the Northeastern Ohio Flute Association’s High School Soloist Competition and performing as principal flute and/or piccolo in the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) All-State Band, Columbus Youth Symphonic Band, OMEA South-Eastern Regional Orchestra, Capital Junior Winds, and Fairfield All-County Band. Her students have also been selected as members of the Ohio State University Honors Band and Capital University Honors Band and and have attended the Ohio State University Summer Flute Workshop and Summer Band Clinic as well as the Capital University Summer Winds and Percussion Camp. Her students regularly hold first chair and piccolo positions in their high school and junior high concert and marching bands. Additionally, Lindsey’s students have earned 61 superior ratings on flute and piccolo solos at OMEA solo and ensemble competitions in the past four years alone.
A student of New York Philharmonic principal flutist Robert Langevin, Goodman also studied with Walfrid Kujala, former principal piccolo of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She received her masters degree from Northwestern University, her bachelor degree summa cum laude from Duquesne University, and a professional studies diploma from the Manhattan School of Music’s orchestral performance program.
