It's my job to identify both the wants and needs of a student and to understand why they are taking lessons and what it is they want to learn. Being able to do this allows me to deliver the best possible lesson with each individual; hence, a lesson that is customized to that individual. It is also my job to make sure that no matter what we work on, students are learning, having fun, and retaining what is learned.
If all you want to learn is AC/DC, for example, that's fine. However, there is a substantial amount of information that can be learned from AC/DC about chords, scales, technique, and composition. Once a song is completed a student will not only play the song well but will also understand the theory behind a song and be able to compare and contrast other songs, bringing you one step closer to becoming a self sustaining student.
* Learn in a way that suits your learning style and interests without the overuse of traditional books. I focus around your interests and pull necessary techniques and theory from the music you like.
* Prepare for a college/university audition. It’s important to seek help from a professional and it’s an added bonus that I’ve been through the process
* Learn about music technology and record yourself
* Live playing opportunities with professional musicians
* Most of all, no matter what age or level, have fun!
