One of metro Detroit's most dynamic music instructors is currently accepting new students who want to grow, learn, and have fun making music. Whether you want to just play for fun, want to audition for the top band at your school, and/or want to prepare for a career as an orchestral musician, Lynne Marie Flegg can help you reach that goal. Lynne Marie Flegg has over twenty years of experience teaching students ranging in age from 9 to 65, from beginning level through graduate school music majors. In addition to offering private lessons on both Oboe and English Horn, she teaches group lessons for chamber music and oboe reed making. Lynne holds both Bachelor of Music and Master of Music Degrees in Oboe Performance and Pedagogy from Arizona State University. She completed additional studies at the Banff School for the Arts, Boston University and Harvard. As a performer, Lynne frequently appears with local orchestras such as the Detroit Symphony, Michigan Opera Theatre, Toledo Symphony, Ann Arbor Symphony, and Flint Symphony. She performs dozens of recitals and educational concerts every year as a member of both the Ann Arbor Symphony Woodwind Quintet and the Great Lakes Consort. Her solo and chamber music performances have been heard on National Public Radio and on several compact discs. Lynne has performed in orchestras accompanying many popular music stars, including Harry Connick Jr., Marvin Hamlisch, Roberta Flack, and Mannheim Steamroller. A highly sought-after adjudicator, Lynne is well known as a judge for MSBOA festivals and several Detroit-area music competitions. Lynne places a strong emphasis on encouraging students to face challenges with a positive attitude. She strives to help students develop a strong sense of self-esteem and confidence while developing a love for all types of music. Her high-energy style encourages students to take musical risks and have fun. She creates lesson plans for every individual member of her studio, based on the student's goals and interests. Because performance is an important part of recognizing and showcasing accomplishments, she encourages students to perform solos or chamber music in studio recitals and MSBOA competitions. No matter what your skill level - if you've never played before, or have several years of experience - Lynne Marie Flegg can help you gain skills and confidence while deepening your love for music. |
